Saurashtra Express Derails At Kim Station Near Surat, No Casualties Reported

The Dadar-Porbandar Saurashtra Express derailed on Tuesday, December 24, at Kim station, located near Surat in Gujarat. The incident occurred at approximately 3:32 PM as the train was departing from the station.

At least four wheels of a non-passenger coach (VPU), positioned directly behind the engine, went off the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries to passengers or railway staff have been reported so far, according to railway officials.

"Despite the derailment, train services in the area remained unaffected," an official said. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Western Railway confirmed that senior officers and technical teams promptly reached the site to oversee the restoration process.

The train departed at 6:20 pm, and restoration was completed by 6:35 pm. "There were no injuries or harm to any onboard passengers or railway staff. The movement of trains was not affected," the CPRO reassured.

The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined. Authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the factors that led to the incident.
