Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Repeats Remarks On PM Modi's Foreign Visits Despite MEA Rebuke (VIDEO)

Chandigarh: A day after the ministry of external affairs (MEA) rebuke of Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visit, CM Mann repeated the same on the floor of the state assembly here on Friday.

Speaking during the discussion on the resolution presented in the assembly to reject deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) dams, Mann said that the MEA issued a statement when he, as a citizen, questioned the foreign policy of the BJP-led Central government.

Repeating his jibes, Mann said: ``I again say that the PM has been going to - I don't know their names - Magnesia, Galvesia, Tarvesi countries whose population is less than 10,000 and he gets their highest civilian honour. The number of people who reside in their countries are equal to the number of people who gather when a JCB is deployed for work in India. There are 140 crore people in India and he should think of their welfare’’.

It may be recalled that Mann had made these comments during a press conference here Thursday evening following which the MEA, without naming Mann, had called the same as regrettable and irresponsible and that ``they do not behove the state authority and the government distances itself from these statements that undermine India’s ties with other friendly countries.

Mann also held that there was discrimination against Punjab and referred to the online crusade against Diljit Dosanjh’s film which has a Pakistani actress. Stating that they (Centre) should not play games with us, Mann said that ``Aap tan Pakistan ja ke biryani kha aaye se’’ (meaning that the PM himself had gone to Pakistan in 2015 and had ``biryani’’ there).
