Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday claimed that India’s stress on the all-around digitisation programme had eliminated long queues for almost daily needs of the people and that it had helped remove corruption and cut out middlemen in all fields.

Inaugurating the Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar on Monday, the prime minister said, “Eight to 10 years ago, we had to stand in lines (queues) for everything, be it for birth certificates, to pay bills, for ration, for school and college admissions, exam results, for certificates or in banks. How many lines did we use to stand in? India has eliminated all lines by going online."

Modi said the biggest gain from the government’s Digital India programme was that it had given relief to the poor from corruption and it is working to eliminate middlemen in all fields. “India has eliminated all lines (queues) by going online," the prime minister reiterated.

Modi stated that India needed to adopt new technology with changing times. "If India does not adopt new technology with changing times, it will remain backward, the country experienced this during the third industrial revolution," he added.

The Prime Minister launched multiple digital portals at the event, including a single sign-in portal Meri Pehchaan, and two websites IndiaStack.Global and MyScheme.

'Indiastack.global' is a global repository of key projects like Aadhaar, UPI, Digilocker, Cowin Vaccination Platform, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), DIKSHA Platform and Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission.

'MyScheme' is a service discovery platform facilitating access to government schemes. It aims to offer a one-stop search and discovery portal where users can find schemes that they are eligible for.

'Meri Pehchaan' or National Single Sign-On (NSSO) is a user authentication service in which a single set of credentials provide access to multiple online applications or services.
