Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC In Poonch, First Time After Operation Sindoor; Indian Army Retaliates

New Delhi: Pakistan Army on Tuesday violated ceasefire along the LoC at Mankot Sector in Poonch district. The Indian Army is retaliating effectively. The unprovoked firing reportedly took place in Poonch sector. This was the first-ever violation after Operation Sindoor, reported news agency PTI.

Reportedly, Pakistani army initiated firing at the Mankot sector of Poonch along the Line of Control (LoC) at around 6.30 pm. The fire exchange continued for over 15 minutes.

Small arms and artillery guns were reportedly used in the Mankote sector of Poonch. No casusalties have been reported in the exchange of fire.

High Alert Sounded Along LOC

A high alert has been sounded all along the LoC. According to India Today, there are inputs suggesting that terrorists may be attempting to infiltrate. The firing is suspected to be a diversionary tactic intended to engage border forces and facilitate their entry.

Operation Sindoor

On April 22, five to six Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire on tourists at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam killing 26 people. In response to the terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). When Pakistan tried to attack Indian civilian and military installations in retaliation, India's air defence thwarted the attack. On the intervening night of May 9 and 10, India also hit 11 Pakistani air bases.

After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan unsuccessfully launched drones and missiles towards India, leading to a four-day military conflict military conflict which ended on May 10 after the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian counterpart.

Earlier last month during a debate on operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in the Lok Sabha about the four-day military conflict with Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, said that Pakistan had begged in front of India for a ceasefire.
