The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday responded sharply to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), dismissing its statement as "absurd."
Responding to a question regarding the OIC's statement, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "The OIC statement, issued at the behest of Pakistan, is absurd in its refusal to recognise the facts of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its cross-border linkages."
"This is yet another attempt by Pakistan—a country that has long engaged in cross-border terrorism—to manipulate and mislead the OIC group into issuing a self-serving statement," he added.
India firmly rejected the OIC’s interference in matters that are internal to the country.
Notably, in a statement issued on Saturday, the OIC expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in the South Asian region and called for restraint and the urgent resumption of dialogue between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of India.
In the same statement, the OIC reiterated its unwavering support for the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
The OIC also urged the international community to intervene in the matter.
