Residents shared visuals showing household objects shaking as the tremors rippled through the region. People in Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal reported mild to moderate shaking, leading many to step outside as a safety measure.

Sukanta Majumdar's Event Disrupted Due To Earthquake

Minister of State for Education of India, Sukanta Majumdar, who was addressing a gathering, paused his speech as the earthquake was felt at the venue. He can be seen stopping and asking about whether the crowd felt tremors. A camera at the event can be seen shaking due to the tremors.

Residents Share Ordeal After Tremors Felt

A Kolkata resident, Swagata, recalled the terrifying moment the earthquake hit the city. “We were sitting on our sofa when we suddenly felt the tremors. We rushed out of our house. The sofa and the fan were shaking, and a bottle kept on the table fell down. All of us ran downstairs,” she said, describing the wave of panic that swept through households across Kolkata.

Although initial app-based alerts indicated noticeable ground movement, official agencies had yet to confirm the quake’s exact magnitude and depth at the time of reporting.
