Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday had urged the people of Malda not to get involved with BSF in connection to any brawl concerning the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Addressing a public meeting at Malda, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that securing the border is the duty of BSF.
“Some incidents are being reported from the neighbouring country but I would ask that the people should refrain themselves from getting into any brawl. The security of the border is seen by BSF,” said Mamata.
Asking the administration to stay ‘alert’, Mamata said that announcements should be made across Malda so that no one allows any unknown people at their place.
“Everyone should stay alert and not allow anyone to check-in to the hotels or seek shelter at anyone’s house. This can be fatal,” further added the Chief Minister.
Notably, for the last few days, untoward incidents of clashes with BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB_ took place at Sukhdevpur area of Malda over fencing. Few BSF jawans sustained injuries after people from the other side of the border had pelted stones and brick towards India.
Local villagers along with BSF jawans were seen countering the alleged miscreants from the other side of the border.
Several villagers also mentioned that it is their duty to protect their motherland.
