Saharanpur: A major accident was averted on Friday in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. An Apache fighter helicopter of the Indian army had to make an emergency landing in Chilkana area. Due to technical glitch, the pilots made a safe landing in an open field on the banks of river Yamuna.
Fortunately, both the pilots onboard are completely safe. The chopper also did not suffer any damages in the incident. As soon as the information about the incident was received, army and police officials rushed to the spot. The army team fixed the technical fault and now the helicopter has flown back to Sarsawa base. A video after the landing of the helicopter has emerged.
Reportedly, the helicopter had taken off for a routine practice flight from Sarsawa airbase. When a technical fault occurred during the flight, both the pilots took a professional decision and made a safe landing in the field. As soon as the helicopter landed in the field, villagers gathered at the spot but the army personnel and police removed the crowd for security reasons.
