Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday took part in ‘Bhasha Andolan’ at Bolpur in Birbhum district carrying pictures of saints of Bengal.
Addressing the gathering, she claimed that the present NDA led central government won’t last till 2029.
“One should not forget their identity (Ashmita), mother tongue and motherland. I am ready to give away my life but won’t allow anyone to snatch away my language. There are 1.5 migrant workers in Bengal. Have I told any Hindi speaking people to leave Bengal? 22 Bengali speaking migrant workers are being allegedly harassed for speaking the language. Commission is working at the behest of BJP,” said Mamata.
Without naming anyone, Mamata said that some people have forgotten the saints produced by Bengal.
“Both the national song and the national anthem was gifted from Bengal. How can people forget Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Vidyasagar and other saints? Does Prime Minister Narendra Modi inquire about the religion of the Maldives president about his religion when you hugged him and donated Rs 5,000 crore, while depriving Bengal of its dues?” further questioned the West Bengal Chief Minister.
