Gujarat: Ahmedabad CBI Court Sentences Repeat Offender To Life In Rape, Abduction And Impersonation Case

The Special Judge, CBI Court No. 7, Ahmedabad  today  sentenced accused Dhaval Harish Chandra Trivedi  to life Imprisonment for the remainder of natural life with fine of Rs.3 lakh  in Rape, abduction and Impersonation case. 

The instant case was transferred to CBI by the Hon'ble High Court of Gujrat from Gujrat Police on the Writ of Habeas Corpus filed by the father of the victim. Initially, the case was registered with Chotila Police Station.  After orders of the Hon’ble High Court, CBI re-registered the  case on 01.05.2019 taking over investigation.

Accused Dhaval Trivedi aged about 46 years was already convicted in a POCSO and rape case. While on Parole, he had started coaching classes in spoken English with the help of jail inmates by impersonating himself. Accused started luring the girls with astrology, projected himself as a rich person so as to deceive them. The victim aged 18 years 6 months (approx) was lured by him with astrologyy and brainwashed her.  After some days, on  instance of accused, the victim left her home and lived in various places in India. In that period accused established physical relationship without her consent on various occasions, assaulted her many times, and during this period original identity of the accused came into knowledge to the victim.

Chargesheet was filed against accused on 14.10.2020 and a supplementary Chargesheet  was filed on 31.05.2021 after completion of investigation. 

The Court, after trial, found accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
