Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik 'examined' by CBI in connection with corruption cases
Malik, who had issued statements criticising the Centre during farmers’ agitation, was moved to Meghalaya where his five-year tenure ended this month. He has also alleged that an "RSS-affiliated man" who "claimed to be very close to the prime minister" had offered him a Rs 300 crore bribe

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday ‘examined’ Satya Pal Malik (76), veteran Jat leader from Western Uttar Pradesh, at its headquarters in the national capital on his allegation that he was offered a bribe of Rs300 crore to clear two files when he was Governor of Jammu & Kashmir under President's rule.
The CBI inquiry into Mr Malik’s allegation was ordered earlier by the Centre while transferring him from Jammu & Kashmir to Goa in 2019. However, he was questioned only five days after he demitted office as Governor of Meghalaya.
Mr Malik had alleged that the bribe was offered to him to clear two files of the “Ambanis” by a “person associated with the RSS”, but he rejected the offer.
Soon after his sensational allegation, Ram Madhav was relieved of his responsibility as BJP general secretary in charge of Jammu & Kashmir. Mr Madhav had come to the BJP from the RSS.
During his tenure as Governor of Meghalaya, Mr Malik courted controversy with his open support to the farmers' agitation and his criticism of the Narendra Modi government for passing the three controversial agricultural laws that it had to rescind ultimately.
A staunch supporter of the late Charan Singh, Mr Malik has announced after retirement that he will guide the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) led by Jayant Chaudhary, grandson of the former Prime Minister.
