Dera Chief And Rape Convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Walks Out Of Jail On Parole

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on Tuesday morning walked out of Sunaria jail in Haryana's Rohtak on a 30-day parole.

Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on Tuesday morning walked out of Sunaria jail in Haryana's Rohtak on a 30-day Parole. He left the jail at around 5:26 am, reported IANS. He will stay at the Sirsa Dera, marking his first visit there since his 2017 sentencing.

During previous paroles, Ram Rahim was given permission only to stay at his Baghpat-based ashram in Uttar Pradesh.

The development came days ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 which are scheduled to take place on February 5.

The Dera chief is serving a 20-year sentence given in 2017 for raping two of his disciples. Ram Rahim was also awarded life-term imprisonment for the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. Notably, this sentence which will commence after the completion of his current jail term.

The Dera chief and other accused in the murder case were convicted in October 2021.

Dera Sacha Sauda has a large number of followers, especially in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
