Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has been booked by Delhi Police for violation of Model Code of Conduct. ANI reported that Delhi Police registered and offence under section 223 (a) of BNS. She faces allegation of use of government vehicle for political purpose.
Delhi Legislative Assembly elections are just weeks away and the Model Code of Conduct is in place. The voting for Delhi Elections is set to take place on February 5.
Former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal quickly took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and alleged that AAP leaders were being disproportionately targetted as no action was being taken against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in spite of them openly distributing money and adding fake voters to voters' list.
Media reports are saying that a resident of Kalkaji named KS Duggal has filed as separate complaint at the Govindpuri police station following which a returning officer has asked police to take action against South-East Divisional Executive Engineer Sanjay Kumar.

The FIR against Atishi has come on the same day the Delhi CM filed nomination papers for Delhi elections from Kalkaji constituency.
Currently, AAP has near-total grip on power in 70-seat Delhi Legislative Assembly. AAP has 58 seats while BJP has 7. Five seats are vacant.
