Mumbai: The cyber police have issued an alert for citizens warning them against emerging cyber-crime attack known as Cryptojacking. Cryptojacking is the unauthorised use of one's device's resources to mine cryptocurrency, often without knowledge of the targeted victim.
Informing citizens about the signs to detect cryptojacking, the alert stated, "High usage of CPU even when idle is a red flag. Device overheating or battery draining faster than usual, browser tabs consuming excessive resources (especially with few tabs open) and unusual network traffic to unknown IPs or mining pools could also be the reasons that the device has been targeted."
