Raghav Chadha on Thursday posted a video on social media hours after reports surfaced that he had been removed as the Deputy Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, a move that has stirred political buzz.
In the video shared on X, Chadha compiled clips of his speeches in the Upper House, captioning it “Buri Nazar” emoji. The post is being widely seen as his first public reaction amid speculation of growing rifts within the party.
Earlier in the day, the AAP formally informed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat about its decision to remove Chadha from the key post and appoint Ashok Mittal as the new Deputy Leader. Mittal, a businessman-turned-politician, will now handle floor coordination and strategy for the party in the Upper House.
The development has raised eyebrows, given Chadha’s long-standing proximity to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his role as one of the party’s prominent national faces. His sudden removal is being viewed as part of shifting internal dynamics following the party’s electoral setbacks.

Chadha’s recent focus on issues such as paid paternity leave, high airport prices, gig workers’ rights, and urban traffic concerns may have diverged from the party’s core political messaging, causing unease within leadership circles. He had also been missing from key campaign activities and was reportedly excluded from the party’s list of star campaigners in recent elections.
The decision comes in the backdrop of AAP’s defeat in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, after which internal equations are believed to have undergone significant changes. While the party has not officially stated reasons for the move, reports suggest concerns over discipline and deviation from the party line.
