Slamming the government over the incident, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed, “More than 1300 people have died in Bihar after consuming spurious liquor since the enforcement of prohibition. This is just the official figure; in reality, the number is far higher. Not only that, dozens of people have also lost their eyesight. The original purpose of the liquor prohibition law has now completely gone haywire."
“This law has become a profitable venture for some leaders of the ruling BJP-JD(U), corrupt officials, and the liquor mafias thriving under their protection, along with the corrupt system. In Bihar, poisonous liquor is being openly manufactured, sold rampantly with the connivance of the police, and delivered home-to-home. All this is happening right under the government's nose, and the poor and common people of Bihar are paying the price with their lives," he alleged.
