Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police registered a case against a man who allegedly forged a police constable's identification number to pose as an inspector.
The accused, identified as Anand S, was reportedly using a fake identity card to mislead people, but his cover was blown when authorities began verifying his credentials.
What Did Police Investigation Reveal?
According to the police, the fraud came to light when they received a tip-off about Anand’s suspicious activities. Upon investigation, officials found that the ID card in his possession falsely identified him as an inspector but lacked the necessary signatures from senior officers. “The suspect was misusing a fake police ID, and after thorough verification, we have registered a case,” a police official told ETV Bharat.
Investigations further revealed that the identification number used by Anand was originally assigned to Constable Doddabassappa K, who is stationed at the SR Nagar police station. The accused had allegedly forged the credentials by replacing the constable’s photograph with his own and altering the designation from ‘Constable’ to ‘Inspector’ in an attempt to impersonate a senior officer.
After uncovering the forgery, authorities formally registered a case and launched efforts to apprehend the suspect. “We are actively searching for the accused and will take strict action against such fraudulent activities," a police spokesperson told the publication.
