After Killing Girlfriend, UP Man Takes Dip In Ganga, Tonsures Head For Absolution in Jaunpur; Arrested

In a shocking incident, a UP man killed his girlfriend by hitting with iron rod on her and dumped her body in a suitcase. Taking swift action, Jaunpur police have solved what initially appeared to be a "blind murder" case in less than 24 hours. The case involved the discovery of a woman's body in a red suitcase found among bushes near a garbage heap in front of Kamla Hospital, between Jaunpur city's JCs crossroads and Wazidpur intersection on Friday.

Following the discovery, Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh directed City Kotwali Inspector-in-charge Mithilesh Kumar Mishra and his team to begin an immediate investigation. The breakthrough came when police examined CCTV footage from the crime scene vicinity and other potential locations, which provided crucial leads.

The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Ananya Sahani, daughter of Jai Kumar Nishad from Muradeo village in Rohaniya police station area of Varanasi district. Ananya had been working at Style Bazaar shopping mall in Jaunpur and was living alone in a rented room in Malipur near Machhlishahr Padav, in a lawyer's house.

Accordig to reports, Police apprehended the accused, Vishal Sahani, around 2:30 pm from Jaunpur Junction (Bhandari Railway Station). Based on his disclosure, officers recovered the iron rod used in the murder, which had been hidden. During a press conference at the Kotwali police station, ASP (City) Arvind Kumar Verma presented the accused, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The investigation revealed that Ananya and Vishal had been in a romantic relationship since 2019, before her marriage. When her family discovered their relationship, they arranged her marriage to another young man from Varanasi. However, the couple continued meeting even after her marriage, which led to her husband abandoning her about three years ago when he learned of the affair.

Ananya wanted to marry Vishal, but her family opposed the match. This prompted her to leave home and move to Jaunpur, where she began working while Vishal visited her frequently. On February 24, Vishal traveled from Varanasi to meet Ananya at her room and stayed overnight. The next morning, an argument erupted between them, during which an enraged Vishal struck Ananya on the head with an iron rod, killing her instantly.

Panicked, Vishal devised a plan to dispose of the body and eliminate evidence. He placed the corpse in a suitcase, hired an e-rickshaw, and dumped it near Kamla Hospital before fleeing home.

According to reports, after committing murder, Vishal bathed in the Ganges and shaved his head to seek forgiveness from God.

ASP (City) Arvind Kumar Verma commended the police team for solving the blind murder case in record time. The investigation team included Inspector-in-charge Mithilesh Kumar Mishra, Inspector Mahmood Alam Ansari, Sarai Pokhta police outpost in-charge Sunil Yadav, Head Constables Satya Prakash Singh, Kamlesh Prasad Saini, Amit Singh, Pankaj Puri, and Constable Vinay Singh.
