Aamir Khan's latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, collected a whopping Rs 21.50 crore at the box office on its second day, and it is almost double of what it earned on first day. The film opened with Rs 10.70 crore, and the total collection now stands at Rs 32.20 crore. It is made on a budget of Rs 90 crore.

Actor Aamir Khan has finally managed to put an end to his series of flops with his latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film seems to have hit just the right nerve, as it saw a massive jump in its box office collection on Saturday, purely on the basis of word of mouth.
Sitaare Zameen Par released in theatres on June 20, Friday, and on its first day, it registered double-digit figures with Rs 10.70 crore. And on its second day, the film recorded almost double the amount as it minted Rs 21.50 crore, according to industry tracker, Sacnilk.
With that, the total box office collection of Sitaare Zameen Par has now reached Rs 32.20 crore.
With no major promotional gimmicks, and the only known names in the film being Aamir and Genelia D'Souza, the film seems to have struck a chord with the audience and is now going growing solely with the help of positive word of mouth.

The real 'stars' of the film have to be the differently-abled cast, for whom Aamir has stepped back and has given them the centre-stage to shine. And they did shine and how!
In a bold move just before the release of the film, Aamir declared that Sitaare Zameen Par will never release on any OTT platforms, so the only way audience can watch the film is in theatres only. The actor reportedly turned down lucrative deals amounting to hundreds of crores from streaming giants, Netflix and Prime Video.

While Sitaare Zameen Par is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 90 crore, the film's current growth trajectory shows that it will easily breach that mark within its first week itself, and it will surely be a big boost to Aamir's run in the cinemas as well as for Indian theatres that have been struggling under the weight of OTT.
