The NRI Coastal Police have registered a case against an unidentified person after Bantai Records, owned by popular rapper Emiway Bantai- real name Mohammad Bilal Shaikh-, received a threatening message demanding Rs 1 crore as extortion and warning of a death threat.
The message was received on May 25 on the official mobile number of Bantai Records, a day after Emiway released his latest track, "Tribute to Sidhu Moosewala".
The message read (sic): "I am gangster Goldy Brar. Tera singer pasa 24 hours hai. Ek karod rupya chahie. Nahin to khatm kar dunga. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi group, gangster Lon group, gangster Rohit Godara." The message, allegedly by a gangster, demanded Rs 1 crore as extortion amount.
According to police reports, the threat was immediately brought to the attention of the Bantai Records manager, who informed Emiway Bantai and filed a complaint at the NRI Police Station.

"We are investigating the case and are trying to trace the number from which the message was sent," a police officer from NRI Coastal police station said. Crime Branch too, has started its parallel investigations.
