Mass outrage is being seen all over India after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that killed 27 civilians. Protests have been breaking out in various cities against Pakistan, while the Indian Army is on high alert. Amidst this charged environment, a video by Lucknow University Assistant Professor Dr. Madri Kakoti has gone viral not in India, but in Pakistan, where it's picking up huge momentum on social media.
Who Is Dr Madri Kakoti?
Born in Assam, Dr Madri Kakoti is known for her bold political commentary and satire. She often criticises governments through her posts under the name Dr. Medusa. Her latest statements have provoked students at Lucknow University into protest, with a number of students calling for the university administration to take action against her, as per the Aaj Tak reports. However, no statement has been put out yet by the Lucknow University administration over the issue.
Professor’s Controversial Statement
Dr Kakoti, popularly known on social media as Dr Medusa, took a sharp jab at the Indian government in her video. Referring to the Pahalgam attack, she stated, “Asking someone’s religion before shooting is terrorism. But so is lynching, denying employment, refusing housing, or bulldozing homes based on religion. Identify the real terrorists.”
Her statement has been widely shared across Pakistani social media platforms. Meanwhile, in India, the post has sparked intense debate and backlash, especially from students of Lucknow University.
Criticism of Media and Government
Dr Kakoti criticised the media and government’s response to the Pahalgam tragedy: “Twenty-seven ordinary Indians people like you and me were killed. The media was busy chasing TRPs, and no serious questions were asked of those in power. A major lapse in internal security went unnoticed, and the Home Minister remained clueless.”
