Noida International Airport (NIAL) Conducts Its First Flight Validation Test

In a amjor landmark development in India' aviation paradigm, the Noida International Airport (NIAL) or the Jewar Airport has conducted its first trial flight run or first flight validation test.
The airport is expected to be commercially operational in 2025. This airport, that is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh is being seen as a landmark project. It is expected to take the workload from the neighbouring Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The Delhi airport currently is the busiest airport in the country.
The Jewar airport will cater to parts of the state and crucial National Capital Region (NCR), which includes major cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida.
The airport is expected to handle as many as 1.2 crore passengers per annum.

The airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL). The YIAPL is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, in close partnership with the Uttar Pradesh government and Government of India.
As much as Rs 7,100 crore has already been spent in the project. This is beyond estimation of Rs 5,000 crore for the entire project in 2008.
