In match 5 of the competition, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) took on the Gujarat Titans (GT). While the match ended with a victory for Punjab Kings, it is the remarkable innings from Kings' new skipper Shreyas Iyer's innings of 97 not out that garnered all the laurels.

Iyer was previously the captain of the Kolkata-based franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders or KKR, who let him go this season.
Match Summary
This match was another high-scoring affair in the newest edition of the million-dollar league. In the match, which saw Iyer unleash his near-century-knock, the Punjab Kings, after being put into bat by the host Gujarat Titans, went on a rampage against the Titans and their bowlers.
The Kings ruled the night and put up a grand show for the spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The team ended the first innings with a grand total of 243 at the loss of 5 wickets. In return, Gujarat Titan continued the blitzkrieg, coming close to the score, however falling short of the target. GT ended the day with 232 for 5, losing by just 11 runs.
