Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): West Central Railway (WCR) earned ₹1,525 crore originating revenue from goods traffic in the three months from April to June of the current financial year, which is 9 percent more than Rs 1399.38 crore in the same period last year. WCR includes the Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Kota railway divisions.
Along with this, the target of Rs 1522 crore 57 lakh set for the first quarter has also been surpassed. Talking about the month of June alone, Rs 502 crore 12 lakh was earned as originating revenue from goods traffic, which is 7 percent more than Rs 469.63 crore in the same period last year.
Freight traffic revenue in the three divisions is as follows:
Jabalpur Division earned originating revenue of Rs 1062.25 crore from goods traffic, which is about 12 percent more than Rs 948.55 crore in the same period last year.
Bhopal Division earned originating revenue of Rs 181.77 crore from goods traffic.
Similarly, Kota Division earned originating revenue of Rs 281 crore from goods traffic, which is about 11 percent more than Rs 254.13 crore in the same period last year.

By increasing the average speed of freight trains, the capacity of different railway sections was increased and infrastructure was also enhanced. Along with this, operational improvements were also made. Continuous efforts are being made to increase Gatishakti cargo terminal/siding.
Improvement in the working of goods terminals and reduction in detention of goods trains. This accelerated the operation of goods trains and increased freight.
Round-the-clock loading and unloading services were started in goods warehouses.
Upgradation work is being done by developing new goods warehouses.
Speed is being provided in infrastructure works like new railway line/doubling/tripling.
