Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday took serious note of the failed germination of soybean seeds in Ganjbasoda, Vidisha disrict, and ordered a probe to identify the source of the allegedly fake and substandard seeds.
He assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the fraud. Chouhan, on receiving a complaint, personally visited a farmer’s agricultural field where soybean seeds were sown but had failed to germinate.

Chouhan inspected the field himself and even dug into the soil to check the condition of the sown seeds. Supplying substandard seed is cheating farmers and the people behind it will be brought to book, said Chouhan. He added that action would be taken against the companies and societies involved in supplying fake or sub-standard seeds.
New laws will soon be brought to check the distribution of inferior quality seeds and pesticides, he assured. Earlier, Chouhan visited Ganjbasoda railway station to review the ongoing construction work.
Taking a dig at the previous Congress government, Chouhan said that during Congress regime, railway stations were in poor condition and remained dirty but now in Modi’s regime, work of providing enhanced facilities to passengers is underway, said Chouhan.
