Posts Sanctioned, Appointment Still Pending; Madhya Pradesh Lags In Super-Specialty Pediatric Care

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh continues to lag behind in super-specialty pediatric care as despite sanctioning of posts for neonatology, cardiology, and neurology in the pediatrics department of super-specialty government medical colleges, no appointments have been made even after four months.

According to sources in the Director Medical Education (DME), posts were sanctioned months back but the appointment process is yet to begin. Deans of government medical colleges stated that they will start the process as soon as the official order is issued.

Three posts each have been sanctioned for cardiology, neonatology, and neurology in pediatric department. In all nine appointments are to be made, however the posts remain vacant, as official order for the same is yet to be released. Five medical colleges of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Rewa fall under the category of super-specialty institutions.

Gandhi Medical College (GMC) Dean Dr Kavita Singh confirmed that order has not been issued so far. “We will initiate the process of appointment once the order is issued from the government,” said Singh.

Speaking on the delay in appointment, Dr RKS Dhakar, dean of Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior said that even after sanctioning of the posts, it takes time for settling the various issues like roster(reservations). “We will begin the appointment process as soon as the order is received.” said the dean.

Additional secretary (health) Neeraj Kumar Singh clarified that the appointments were not for all government medical colleges but for those which have been granted status of super-specialty.
