Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A carcass of a twelve-year-old tigress was found buried in sand near Masoor nullah of Rukad area in Pench Tiger Reserve, Seoni on Saturday.
The one-third body part of the tigress, aged twelve years was exposed and two-third body was buried in sand. Though the tigress died a natural death, someone had chopped all four paws and made away with its three canine teeth. A cash reward of Rs 10k has been declared on the head of the accused.
Sources in Pench Tiger Reserve said that the patrolling team in Rukad beat confronted smell coming out from a deep pit. When patrolling members reached the spot, they saw that a feline was buried inside the sand of a drain. When the photo database of the feline was matched with the photo database it was found out to be tigress PN 42.
During autopsy of the tigress, no signs of poisoning, current or bullet wound were found. Prima facie, it seems that tigress died a natural death. The unknown persons moving inside the jungle chopped all four paws and uprooted three canine teeth of feline. After post-mortem, the carcass of tigress was burnt as per protocol of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Meanwhile, a cash reward of Rs 10k has been announced on the head of the accused who chopped four paws and uprooted three canine teeth of the tigress. The forest officers of Pench said that anyone who gives information of accused will get cash Rs 10k and his name will be kept secret.
