Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): In an unfortunate incident, a couple from Gwallior's Bhitarwar, Hari Sahu and Shakuntala Sahu, went missing at the stampede that took place in Mahakumbh.
According to their son Rahul, his parents left for the mela on January 27. The family last spoke to them on Tuesday evening at 5 pm. They mentioned their plan to take the holy dip next morning.
However, at around 11 am, a known contact from Pichhore called to inform them about a stampede in the area and said Shakuntala had gone missing. Attempts to call Hari Sahu's phone failed as it was switched off.
Despite contacting the Prayagraj helpline, the family has not received any updates about the missing couple.
Efforts are underway to locate them, and their family remains hopeful for their safe return.
Man, woman loses life; CM announces ex-gratia
Additionally, a man from Gwalior Kamta Prasad Pal (47) and a woman from Chhatarpur Hukam Bai (45) died during the stampede that occurred in Mahakumbh area in Prayagraj on Wednesday morning. The woman’s daughter Deepa Lodhi had sustained injuries. As many as 18 people from Chhatarpur district had gone for a holy dip.
CM Mohan Yadav had announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for each of the grieving families.
Chhatarpur district collector Parth Jaiswal also provided Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 to families under BPL norms.
