Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The team from Madhya Pradesh’s Forest Department, on Wednesday, successfully captured the elephant that had chased and killed 3 villagers in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol on Monday.
Regarding the matter, Shahdol Range's senior Forest officer told the Free Press that they studied incident's video thoroughly and found that only one elephant, aged 20 years, killed the 3 villagers - two men and a woman.
Therefore, only one was captured from Sanjay Tiger Reserve and second was left untouched. To catch the killer elephant, six elephants were used by the Forest team.
He added that the giant will now be taken to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Later, the Forest Department will decide whether to release it into the wild or to domesticate it for duties such as patrolling.

What was the matter?
On Monday morning, two elephants were going towards Sanjay Tiger Reserve, he added.
On the way, they saw hundreds of villagers plucking Tendu leaves. Enraged by the large crowd of humans, the elephants ran amok and began chasing the villagers.
Panic spread, and people started running in all directions. In the chaos, both elephants trampled three villagers, after which two elderly men and an old woman.
The elephants were so furious that they repeatedly trampled the victims, badly mutilating their bodies.
