Madhya Pradesh: Commission May Be Set Up For Delimitation For Local Bodies’ Elections

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A commission may be set up for delimitation of areas for the local bodies’ elections.

The election to local bodies and Panchayats will be held in 2027. Talks about the delimitation of seats before holding these elections are underway.

The State Election Commission has written to the government about the formation of the state delimitation commission. The Urban Development Department and the Panchayat Department have been so far doing the delimitation work.

As the departments are doing the delimitation work the opposition protests against it, and the issue gets stuck in the court. The delimitation work done by the commission does not go to the court because it is considered neutral.

The seats will be adjusted through delimitation. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also announced that new municipal corporations and Nagar Palikas would be set up.

There are talks about connecting some areas coming under one civic body to another.
