Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Election to the post of BJP’s state unit president may be conducted this week. The election was put off because of swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister and the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal.
The BJP organisation is soon going to declare a date for the state president’s election.
According to sources, the name of legislator from Betul Hemant Khandelwal is ahead of others in the race for the post. National co-organisational general secretary Shiv Prakash and regional organisational general secretary Ajay Jamwal have been asked to ensure that a consensus on a name is reached. Khandelwal is having the support of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

So, there will be barely any opposition to his candidature. Nevertheless, the central leadership will take a decision on the name of the new president.
These two leaders will arrive at a consensus on the selected names after holding talks with the important leaders in the state.
The names for the post of state president will be discussed with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, state unit president VD Sharma, Deputy Chief Ministers Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda, ministers Kailash Vijayvargiya and Prahlad Patel.
The BJP has been doing exercises for a long time to elect its state unit president.
One month has passed since the election to the post of district unit presidents was held, but a date for election to the post of state unit president was yet to be declared. All the contenders are making efforts to get the coveted post.
