Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The updated voter list for Madhya Pradesh was released on Monday, revealing a sharp increase of 4,97,404 voters in the state. According to Chief Electoral Officer Sukhveer Singh, the total number of registered voters now stands at 5,70,92,367, following a special brief review process.
The new list also shows an improvement in the gender ratio, which has risen from 948 to 950 females for every 1,000 males. Sukhveer Singh shared the details of the updated voter list with recognised political parties, emphasising the increase in voter registration.
He said that the final publication of the list was issued in all districts on Monday, with the total number of voters recorded at 5,70,92,367. During the review, 7,98,469 new names were added to the voter list, 3,01,065 names were removed, and 3,13,642 voter cards underwent amendments.
The total increase of 4,97,404 voters marks a notable rise in the state's electoral participation. Breaking down the updated numbers, the male voters now total 2,92,74,141, while female voters have reached 2,78,17,016.
The list also includes 1,210 voters from the third-gender category. This marks an overall growth in voter registration across different genders. In terms of age distribution, the youngest age group, 18 to 19 years, comprises 11,19,161 voters. The 20 to 29 age group holds the highest number of voters, with 1,33,88,424. The 40 to 49 age group includes 1,15,28,407 voters, and there are 7,52,420 voters aged 80 and above.
