Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Heavy rainfall disrupted daily life in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Boys Hostel in Rewa turned into a pond as the building got partially submerged into 5 to 6 feet. As many as 45 children got stuck here.They were rescued with the help of a boat.
It’s raining heavily in Rewa since Wednesday night, causing flood-like situations in many areas. Roads were clogged, several houses were partially submerged. As a result, household goods could be seen flowing on the road.
A 20 feet high iron staircase fell in Ward-36 due to which 20 people present on the second floor were brought down with the help of a crane. At the same time, 11 workers were stuck on the roof of an under-construction hospital about 40 km from Rewa for 9 hours.
The rescue team barely took them out amid the strong waves. Police officials and SDRF team were present on the spot.
Complain was made to CM Helpline
People called the Municipal Corporation and administrative officials but no one reached the spot for help. They were forced to complain to CM helpline from which help arrived after long time. A student expressed frustration over poor rescue arrangements, he said,“They left us in a dirty place with no food, water, or beds.”
As rescue and relief operations continued locals demand responsibility and permanent solutions to Rewa’s ongoing flood issues. The city remains on alert with more rain expected.
