Chhindwara: Congress fumes as Excise officer allegedly orders liquor to be added in poll expenses

Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has raised an objection against the Assistant Commissioner of Chhindwara after the latter granted permission to one of the Municipal Election candidates to distribute liquor during elections.

The Congress Committee has also filed a complaint to the Election Commission, demanding to bring down any such orders.

Notably, The Assistant Commissioner, in one of its order, has allegedly given permission to one municipal election candidate to distribute liquor during the elections. The candidate is from BJP and is contesting Municipal Elections from Chhindwara.

Congress' JP Ghanopia lashed the BJP government saying that the party is only ruling on the basis of dictatorship.

The complaint letter, submitted by the MP Congress Committee to the Election Commission, states that the administration has listed all the types of liquor which can be distributed during elections.

"The order states that the expense of distributing liquor will be included in the election expenses of the candidate. They have also listed the liquor names. It is objectionable for a candidate to distribute liquor during election time or even bare its expense. Such orders should be turned down at earliest," said Ghanopia.

When contacted Excise Commissioner Rajeev Dubey, he constrained himself from the matter. He shrugged off the news saying he is unaware of any such order.
