Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): The cheetahs 'Pavak and Prabhas' seem to like their new home as they swiflty adapt in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary of Mandsaur district. Both the cheetahs were released on 20th April and within 30 hours on the night of 21st April both of them together successfully hunted down a male chital.
Both Pavak and Prabhas relocated to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary from Kuno National Park. Male cheetahs Pavak and Prabhas are about 6 years old. Both the brothers were brought from South Africa on 18 February 2023.
Now they will rest for three days
According to the Forest Department, this hunt will fulfill their nutritional needs for the next three days. During this time they will not hunt new prey.
A six-member team of the Forest Department is constantly monitoring to take care of the cheetahs.
A forest official informed that a special enclosure of 64 square kilometers has been built for the cheetahs. In the last 24 hours, the cheetahs visited this entire area and also drank water four times. Before the transfer from Kunno, these cheetahs had eaten their fill, due to which it took them 30 hours to hunt for the first time. Now they are resting. Now they will rest for three days
