Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman and a male employee consumed phenyl after being suddenly dismissed from their jobs on Monday. The incident occurred at Sai Sports Academy in Bhopal's Ratibad.
It is said that both the employees were outsourced and they took such an extreme step as they were distressed after being terminated from their jobs.
The affected employees were identified as Nitu and Suresh, who were rushed to JP Hospital. Here, the woman remains in critical condition.
Regarding the matter, Ratibad Police Station in-charge Ras Bihari Sharma stated that they had not received any official complaint yet. He assured that necessary action would be taken once a complaint is filed.
The woman has been identified as Nitu. It is said that she had been working at Sai Sports Academy for the past 18 years as cleaning staff.
Three months ago, she along with colleagues, was informed that they are going to lose their job, and to avoid the same, they will have to give ₹25,000.
The workers recorded a video of the demand and reported it to the academy’s officials, but no action was taken.
After three months, on Monday, Nitu along with five others was informed that they are being fired.
Upset over the sudden dismissal, Nitu and Suresh consumed phenyl in the washroom. While Suresh’s condition is stable, Nitu remains in critical condition and has been admitted to the ICU.
The investigation into the case is underway.
