Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state Congress party unit has sent a proposal to suspend the party’s former MLA Laxman Singh from the party to AICC for the approval, said party leader here on Saturday.
Recently the ex-MLA, the brother of former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, had raised problems of his own party on different issues. On April 24, Laxman Singh had given a statement against Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra and Jammu Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah.
He had also advised Rahul Gandhi to speak wisely and said that if the party wanted to expel him, it should do so today. Our party leaders should speak wisely, otherwise they will have to face the consequences in the elections, Laxman Singh had said.
Congress had taken cognisance of Laxman Singh's statement and had issued him a show cause notice on May 9. The party's disciplinary committee had asked him for a reply within 10 days.
But, since the reply was not satisfactory, his suspension has been recommended. Party’s state general secretary Sanjay Kamle told Free Press that the ex-MLA was AICC member and he could only be suspended by top leaders of the party.
