Bhopal News: DME Postpones Direct Recruitment Of Teachers Amid MTA Protest

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Amid the Medical Teachers Association (MTA) protest against direct recruitment, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) on Friday postponed the ongoing direct recruitment of medical teachers in medical colleges.

As per a circular issued to all deans of medical colleges, the DME said that following an order by the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the recruitment process has been postponed. The DME will first examine the High Court order and, until then, recruitment will remain on hold, the circular added.

The MTA has been demanding that vacant posts be filled through promotions rather than direct recruitment and has warned of an indefinite strike from April 6 if no decision is taken in this connection.

Recently, Gandhi Medical College (GMC), Bhopal issued an advertisement for the appointment of professors, associate professors and assistant professors through direct recruitment for the super speciality unit. Super speciality departments in paediatric cardiology and paediatric neurology are being set up at GMC, Bhopal.

MTA president Dr Rakesh Malviya said, The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had rejected direct recruitment of medical teachers. Similarly, the court decision is in favour of the MTA in the Khandwa medical college case, while there is a stay in the Ratlam medical college case. Vacant posts of medical teachers should be filled through promotions, not direct recruitment.
