Bhopal Municipal Corporation To Honour Best Ward Under Swachh Survekshan-2024
The meeting, held at the Mayor’s office in ISBT, outlined the standards and processes for the competition.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to make Bhopal the cleanest city, Mayor Malti Rai, along with Corporation Commissioner Harendra Narayan, convened a meeting on Saturday with councillors of 24 wards shortlisted for Cleanest Ward Competition under Swachh Survekshan-2024.
The meeting, held at the Mayor’s office in ISBT, outlined the standards and processes for the competition. Through a detailed presentation, councillors were briefed about the evaluation criteria, which carry a total of 200 marks, with 100 marks dedicated to cleanliness components.
Mayor Rai emphasised the competition’s goal to inspire special cleanliness efforts and foster a sense of pride among residents. Key evaluation criteria include waste segregation, wet waste composting, dust-free greenery, banning single-use plastics, maintaining public toilets as per Water Plus Protocol and organising zero-waste events. Initiatives such as clean school rankings, heritage-themed wall paintings and felicitation of ‘Swachhata Champions’ are also encouraged.
A jury comprising of councillors, resident association members, voluntary organisations and waste management experts will assess cleanliness in the wards. To ensure fairness, jury members will evaluate wards other than their own.
Each month, the mayor will announce three best-performing wards with annual recognition for top wards at a city-level event.
The initiative aims to maintain comprehensive cleanliness while promoting healthy competition among wards.
