Bhopal Municipal Corporation Targets Top Spot In Swachh Survekshan 2024
BMC Commissioner Harendra Narayan expressed optimism about Bhopal’s chances of achieving the top spot.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to secure the first rank in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2024.
The central government has introduced new guidelines for the survey, emphasizing service-level progress and ward-level performance.
Municipal corporations will now be assessed on how much progress they have made in providing cleanliness services, along with detailed inspections at the ward level.
Cities across India have been categorized into five population-based groups for the survey. This Survey by the central team will start from the second week of February and conclude by the end of March in the city. Indore, known for its stellar track record in cleanliness, continues to dominate as a "super league city."
This year, the survey is centered on the theme of “RRR” Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to promote sustainable urban development. With these initiatives, BMC aims to set a benchmark for cleanliness and sustainable development, strengthening its chances of clinching the coveted first rank in Swachh Survekshan 2024.
The evaluation will focus on five key parameters: visible cleanliness, door-to-door waste collection, waste segregation, processing, and sustainability.
BMC Commissioner Harendra Narayan expressed optimism about Bhopal’s chances of achieving the top spot.
“Last year, Bhopal secured the 5th rank due to a few missed points. This time, we are determined to perform even better,” he said. To enhance sustainability, the BMC is currently converting 400 tones of wet waste into Bio-CNG daily.
Additionally, plans are underway to begin converting dry waste into charcoal within the next six months.
