Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Secretary Anurag Jain has asked the authorities of various departments like Urban Administration, police to upload all CCTV cameras data on an integrated portal. The instructions were issued during a meeting here on Friday.
The Centre has also written to the state government asking to have an integrated portal for CCTV footage. Getting CCTV data of all departments at one place will be helpful in monitoring and analyzing them.
Currently, during investigations, it becomes difficult for agencies to collect and analyze footage from CCTV cameras managed by different departments. An integrated portal will help agencies save time and resources.
While probing a case, investigators have to contact multiple departments to access their CCTV camera data. Once the integrated portal is operational, officers will be able to retrieve footage from a single source, allowing for faster and more efficient investigations.
Few states have a unified integrated portal
The Police, Smart City of Urban Development Department and a few other departments have their own CCTV cameras installed at public places and they maintain the data separately.
Reportedly, a few states have a unified integrated portal where data of various departments are uploaded.
