Bhopal: Beautician Raped On Marriage Lure, Accused On The Run

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old beautician was allegedly raped by a man who lured her with a false promise of marriage and sexually exploited her for two years.

Accused his absconding, efforts are underway to arrest

The woman approached Habibganj police and lodged an FIR against the accused on Sunday. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the man, who is currently absconding.

According to police, the woman, who works at a beauty parlour, came in contact with the accused, Raunak Singh alias Raju Thakur, in 2022. Raunak allegedly proposed to her and established a physical relationship on several occasions, including at his residence in Habibganj area.

He allegedly assaulted her during an argument

However, when the woman began pressing him to fulfil his promise of marriage, Raunak started avoiding her. Two days ago, he allegedly assaulted her during an argument and threatened her when she confronted him for backing out of the marriage. Following the incident, he fled the scene and switched off his phone.

Habibganj police have registered a case and launched a search to trace the accused. Further investigation is underway.
