Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Sagar Lokayukta police trapped a senior agriculture development officer (SADO) along with a bribe amount of ₹50k on Saturday. The accused will retire this month. A case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway.
Sagar Lokayukta police said that Sunil Kumar Jain runs a pesticide shop used for agricultural purpose. The licence of his shop was needed to be renewed.
In the name of renewal, to upload principal certificate and to give a favourable report of corn sample to Sunil, the accused SADO Santosh Kumar Jain demanded a bribe.
On June 27, Sunil Jain lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta office following which the Lokayukta police swung into action. During verification of the complaint, accused officer Santosh Kumar Jain took a bribe of ₹10k from the complainant and demanded an additional amount ₹50k.
Subsequently, Lokayukta police planned the trap to catch the accused. On Saturday, the accused was caught accepting bribe of ₹50k from the shop situated in Sabzi Mandi.
