Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by lover in Jabalpur. The accused was arrested by police on Saturday.
The incident took place near Bargi Dam in front of her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
The accused, Naman Vishwakarma, a resident of Gadha Phatak, was arrested by the police on Saturday.
On May 25, when the woman’s husband was away, Naman visited her home and took her and her child on his motorcycle, saying he would take them to see Bargi Dam.
Before reaching the dam, he stopped in a forest and asked the woman to leave her husband and marry him. When she refused, he became angry and stabbed her multiple times.
After the attack, Naman changed his clothes, hid the motorcycle and the knife used in the murder in the Ramanpur forest, and threw his blood-stained clothes into a nearby drain.
He then traveled on foot to the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway, took a bus to Seoni, and later went to Chhattisgarh.
He secretly returned to the forest near Bargi on Saturday, where police caught him while he was trying to escape. The murder weapon was recovered from him. The woman died the next day at Medical Hospital during treatment.
Police have registered a murder case against Naman Vishwakarma and are investigating the matter.
