29-Year-Old Gwalior Man Seeks Divorce To Become Transgender, Says Family Life Holding Him Back

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A 29-year-old man is ending his six-year-old marriage because he wants to undergo gender transition and live as a transgender person in Gwalior.

The couple also has a three-and-a-half-year-old son, but the man has clearly said he wants to cut all ties with both his wife and child.

According to information, he told his family that he is homosexual and wants to go through a medical procedure to change his gender.

According to him, as long as he stays connected to his current family life, he cannot live freely or as per his identity.

The man’s decision shocked his wife and relatives.

His family tried for nearly a year to make him reconsider, but he stayed firm on his decision. Eventually, they gave up and accepted his choice.

Now, both husband and wife have agreed to a mutual divorce.

They registered a consent letter stating that the man will give ₹3 lakh to his wife and child, and return all jewelry and belongings received at the time of marriage. The couple will now approach the family court to complete the divorce process.
