Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-year-old youth was stabbed to death in a violent attack during a religious procession in the capital city on Sunday night. The deceased had been identified as Yuvraj Bansakar.
Two other youths, Rohit Sen and Sanju Verma, were also injured in this attack.
The incident took place when the procession taken out by Yuva Hindu Utsav Samiti was reaching Mata Mandir intersection from Sindhi Colony.
According to eyewitnesses, some armed men attacked after a minor dispute while dancing to the DJ. The injured youths were rushed to the hospital, where Yuvraj died during treatment. The deceased was a resident of Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh and was currently living with his family in Bhopal.
On Monday, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Congress state president Jitu Patwari reached Hamidia Hospital, met the family, and expressed condolences. ACP Rakesh Baghel said that this attack was not during the procession, but was the result of an old rivalry. He said that he himself took the injured Yuvraj to the hospital.
The police are seriously investigating the matter, said ACP Baghel.
