Johannesburg: The United States has warned the Israeli government against its plan to expropriate 400 hectares of land in the West Bank as it would cause hindrance in peace efforts, said a State Department official.

According to News24, the official said that the U.S. has urged the Israeli government to take the decision back.

Palestinian officials said that it would provoke more violence due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The announcement of the acquisition came on Sunday whereby the Israel radio claimed that the decision was made in response to the killing of three Jewish teenagers.

However, the notice had been published by the military that did not state any reason.

Israel has been condemned by the Western countries earlier for its settlement activities as they hamper peace talks with Palestinians and the actions are illegal with respect to the international law.
