Man arrested for making hoax terror calls in Nepal

Kathmandu: A 36-year-old man has been arrested for making hoax calls to security agencies, about terrorist group Al Qaeda’s plan to carry out a number of attacks in the Nepalese capital, police said today.

Roshan Bharati of Jhapa district, Eastern Nepal was nabbed by the Metropolitan Police circle for illegally gaining access to other person’s email address and misleading the police by sending mischievous mail.

According to Kathmandu Metro Police Chief Senior Superintendent Pushkar Karki, the accused has been charged with cyber crime and necessary legal action has been initiated against him.

Acting on the basis of information furnished by Bharati, the police had earlier nabbed 20 persons along with five Pakistani nationals, 12 Indians and two Nepalese here last week.

However, the Indian and Nepali citizens were released after carrying out interrogation.

But Pakistani nationals are still under the police detention and investigation is on about their involvement in suspicious activities.

Police said Bharati logged in with email address of Pakistani national Kayum Riyaj, Nepal-based representative of Kalki Avatar Foundation of Britain and sent an email to Chief of the foundation Younus Algohar about detonating bombs in the capital.

Bharati, later printed the email and handed it to the police.
