Yogyakarta: A postgraduate law student in Indonesia may be jailed for six years for calling Yogyakarta in Java ‘stupid’ in a social media post. For Florence Sihombing, 26, the troubles began after attendants at a petrol pump refused to serve her. In a message posted online to her friends, she said: “Jogja (Yogyakarta) is poor, stupid and uncultured. Friends in Jakarta and Bandung, please don’t stay in Jogja.” As the message went viral, she came under attack on several social media sites. Yogyakarta police arrested her for inciting hatred and defamation.
