Islamabad: Pakistan Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has no plans to take up a job or pen his memoirs after he hangs up his boots this week, his brother has said. “A COAS (Chief of Army Staff) never does a job,” Brig (retired) Amjad Kayani, the army chief’s brother, said while speaking about his plans after he retires on November 29.
He said the family was happy that Kayani would join them after retirement as he was not in good health due to chain smoking. “He needs rest; he will not be doing any job,” he said. Amjad, a successful businessman who retired in 2005 after serving in the infantry, told The News daily that his brother had no plans to pen a book after stepping down. “He will not; if he asked me, I will not advise him (not to) because one cannot write the whole truth,” he said. He said Jahangir Karamat was the only former army chief who opted for a job after retirement.
